Experience Tanzania’s most iconic contrasts in one unforgettable trip: climb Africa’s highest mountain, then relax on the turquoise beaches of Zanzibar. This 11-day journey begins with the Lemosho Route — scenic, gradual, and with the best summit success rate. After the climb, fly straight to Zanzibar for white sand, spice plantations, and a sunset dhow cruise. Perfect for explorers, couples, or first-timers who want it all.
đźź© Itinerary
Welcome to Tanzania! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll be greeted and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Get briefed about the climb, meet your mountain guide, and rest up before the big adventure begins.
Your Kilimanjaro journey begins on the western side via the scenic Lemosho Route. After registration at the Londorossi Gate, trek through a lush rainforest filled with colobus monkeys. Reach Mti Mkubwa Camp by late afternoon.
Trek time: 3–4 hrs | Altitude: 2,650m
Continue hiking through montane forest, crossing streams and moorland terrain to arrive at Shira Plateau. The landscape opens to wide views of Kibo peak as you reach Shira 1 Camp.
Trek time: 6–7 hrs | Altitude: 3,610m
A short but important day to help with acclimatization. Trek eastward across the plateau with views of glaciers and lava ridges, reaching Shira 2 Camp.
Trek time: 4–5 hrs | Altitude: 3,850m
Ascend to the dramatic Lava Tower at 4,600m, then descend into the beautiful Barranco Valley. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy is key for acclimatization. Camp at the foot of the imposing Barranco Wall.
Trek time: 7–8 hrs | Altitude: 3,976m
After conquering the famous Barranco Wall, trek over undulating ridges and valleys to Karanga Camp. This shorter day allows for more rest and acclimatization before summit push.
Trek time: 4–5 hrs | Altitude: 3,995m
Hike steadily uphill to Barafu Camp, your base for the final ascent. Eat early and get some rest, as your summit attempt starts just before midnight.
Trek time: 3–4 hrs | Altitude: 4,673m
Start your ascent around midnight. Hike by headlamp through switchbacks and snowfields until you reach Uhuru Peak (5,895m) — the Roof of Africa. After celebration photos, descend to Mweka Camp for the night.
Trek time: 10–14 hrs total | Altitude: 5,895m (peak)
Complete your descent and receive your summit certificates at Mweka Gate. Transfer to the airport and board a flight to Zanzibar. Arrive and relax at a beautiful beach hotel.
Flight time: ~1 hr 10 min
After breakfast, enjoy a guided Spice Tour through local farms with tasting and hands-on experience. Later in the afternoon, hop on a traditional dhow for a sunset cruise, complete with Swahili snacks and music.
After a leisurely breakfast, check out and transfer to Zanzibar Airport for your flight home. Or extend your beach stay — we can customize the itinerary for you.
